Mr. Evans was born and raised in Rockingham County, Virginia, and focuses his practice on criminal defense, civil litigation, and personal injury law. With regard to his criminal law practice, Mr. Evans defends individuals charged within both state and federal court with serious felonies, including violent crimes such as aggravated malicious wounding, burglary, aggravated sexual offenses, transportation and distribution of illegal drugs, and first degree murder. Mr. Evans is one of the five attorneys in Rockingham County certified by the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission to serve as co-counsel on capital murder (death penalty) cases. Mr. Evans also defends individuals charged with felony financial crimes, such as embezzlement, credit card fraud, money laundering, and forging of public records. Mr. Evans also has extensive experience representing clients who are charged in traffic court for various traffic offenses, including reckless driving by speed and traffic accidents resulting in fatalities. Mr. Evans represents many James Madison University students who are charged with underage possession of alcohol, both for their first offense, as well as for their second and third offenses, and any resulting ASAP violations.

H. Eugene Oliver, III is a partner at Evans Oliver, PLC who focuses his practice on criminal defense, traffic matters, and custody/visitation cases.  Eugene is committed to providing zealous advocacy and high quality representation for all of his clients.  He focuses his practice on not only making the best legal arguments in court, but also on guiding you through the complex legal system and working with you to protect your interests.  

Eugene is a former prosecutor who now practices criminal defense, with extensive experience on both sides of the courtroom, ranging from violent crimes like first degree murder and robbery to major drug offenses to serious financial crimes. Having handled thousands of cases as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, he knows the ins and outs of criminal law practice throughout Virginia.  Eugene has been selected by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the premier statewide organization of criminal defense attorneys. Hunter, a North Carolina native, graduated from Appalachian State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He minored in Psychology and graduated cum laude in 2009. After graduating from Appalachian State, Hunter interned and eventually earned employment with the law firm of Everett & Hite in Greenville, North Carolina. In 2011, he left the firm to attend law school at the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia.Hunter was on a full merit scholarship while at the Appalachian School of Law. He graduated summa cum laude and finished second in his law school class.

While at the Appalachian School of Law, Hunter was on the school’s Natural Resources Law Journal and he was a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi. Hunter was on Dean’s List every eligible semester, and received the best grades in Constitutional Law II and Trial Advocacy. READ MORE
